Evan Gershkovich, a correspondent for the American edition of The Wall Street Journal, was detained in Yekaterinburg, he is suspected of espionage, the FSB said in a statement.

 Evan Gershkovich, a correspondent for the American edition of The Wall Street Journal, was detained in Yekaterinburg, he is suspected of espionage, the FSB said in a statement.  It is reported by the BBC.


The FSB claims that Gershkovich, on commands from America, "changed into gathering information approximately one of the establishments of the Russian military-business complex, which constitutes a nation secret."


 

 The investigative department of the FSB opened a criminal case under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Espionage”), the Russian special service said.




 The day before, several publications from Yekaterinburg reported that The Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich stopped communicating with his editorial office after a trip to Yekaterinburg.
